Whimsical, capricious patterns, amorphous shapes, cut old woolen blankets, arranged in disorder. Homeshaker is developed by Remy&Veenhuizen, together with artist Tanja Smeets, for the Hans Berger Clinic. This clinic specializes in diagnosing and treating people with epilepsy and sleep-wake disorders. Remy&Veenhuizen and Smeets were commissioned to create a place for patients to retreat.
In the unusual handling of materials and the preference for complex structures the artists found each other and created a friendly world of soft shapes and materials that stimulate fantasy. Remy&Veenhuizen and Smeets wanted to address the needs of patients for a place that offers privacy. For this they designed a quiet, homely place where you can stay alone or with a visiter.
The carpet made for the Homeshaker refers to brain structures, a flowing mass, but a warm spot in the public space.
